The Casa

There’s only one thing better then jetting off to Europe every summer to sip spritz on the Mediterranean Coast, and that’s having a home of your own that evokes all the same beauty and style as the world’s coolest coastline.

The textures, materials, and timelessness of the unique European-inspired architecture and interior aesthetic are rapidly growing in popularity across Australia, especially in coastal regions.

While the allure of Spanish Mission and Mediterranean-style homes now reaches far beyond the sun-soaked seaside villages of Europe where it first began, Australian architects and homemakers have established our own distinct take on the beloved look.

With its raw textures and a rustic colour palette reminiscent of a Spanish villa from another era, The Casa by Webb & Brown-Neaves is a masterclass in how Old-World Europe can be translated and reimagined to suit the contemporary Australian lifestyle.

The expansive home is warm, welcoming and completely character-filled while offering all of the modern conveniences and luxuries you could want in a new family home.

Nurturing both contemporary living and the classic communal culinary traditions of southwestern Europe, an open-plan layout downstairs forms the heart and hub of the house with ample space for dining, cooking and lounging together. Upstairs, a master suite complete with access to a balcony and a more intimate sitting area offers a quiet place to retreat. The balcony balustrade showcases both a wrought iron finish and a sleek, modern silhouette as two eras merge.

An affinity for the outdoors is a common thread for both Australian and Mediterranean lifestyles, and it hasn’t been lost on the designers behind The Casa. A generously proportioned alfresco space is in direct sightline of the kitchen and accessible via the living space, with an impressive raked ceiling of its own.

While The Casa encapsulates a modern Australian take on The Med, it has perfectly preserved one signature design feature that is a true hallmark of the original aesthetic. Terracotta rooftiles set the home apart from any other on the street, but the use of La Escandella Curvado in Roja by Bristle Roofing was about more than just good looks.

Terracotta roof tiles are ideal for recreating Mediterranean style, but they are also perfectly suited to the Australian climate as they help to offset heat and improve home ventilation. Made from sustainable materials, Bristile products last a lifetime and age gracefully – so The Casa will look beautiful forever.
