Bowral Bricks in Chillingham White

Nestled next to Hudson Park in Sydney’s Inner-West suburb of Homebush, the Badgery Avenue Build is surrounded by rich history and modern living. Known for leafy streets and charming Federation homes, that have lasted the test of time due to their meticulous and well-crafted design, a method followed by Architect Tony Harb in building this design. Badgery Avenue seamlessly aligns with the durable nature of other preexisting homes in the area.

Architect Tony Harb’s design on Badgery Avenue demonstrates how Bowral Bricks can be used for durability, aesthetic benefits, and a timeless design, reflecting the character of the neighborhood. In most cases, bricks are a dense and heavy material typically used for insulation and to block out light. However, Badgery Avenue demonstrates a striking contrast. The Chillingham White colour of the bricks allows natural light to reflect off the surface, creating a light and tranquil atmosphere throughout the exterior and interior corridors. This brick selection complements the other materials used in the design, including the wooden battens and the timber garage. Additionally, the bricks serve as an excellent backdrop for the landscaping, which plays a crucial role in the overall project design.

“The bricks add warmth to the building and work well with the existing streetscape.”

The versatility of bricks allows for their internal and external use in a design. This versatile quality, particularly for Bowral Bricks, provides for a seamless transition between outside and inside spaces, reducing the need for various products and enhancing overall aesthetics. "Bowral Bricks offer excellent protection against the elements and typically do not require replacement, which helps reduce environmental impact. They do not disintegrate and are low maintenance," Harb explains. This highlights the mutual benefits of Bowral Bricks, which emphasises premium design and high sustainability standards.  “Colour and texture were the initial key factors driving the brick choice,” says Mark Harb, the lead builder on the project from Pillar Projects. Typically, style and modern design are not the first things one thinks of when building with bricks. However, Bowral Bricks exhibits how one can obtain an optimal blend between the two.

The Bowral Bricks in Chillingham White suggest that designing with bricks is not only limited to durability and longevity but can be a suitable and modernistic outlet for builders and architects. “A key factor of the choice of using Bowral Bricks was budget and availability,” Harb outlines. “We wanted all of the inherent benefits of brick - low maintenance, durability, and resilience, but Bowral Bricks added a layer of sustainability and street appeal that was not seen in other products considered.” With the unpredictable weather of Australian seasons, were a clear choice to withstand many conditions. The overall design showcases the best design in an extremely preferable area. The use of sustainable and durable materials coupled with the use of minimalist glass and wood makes this Ha Design-build on Badgery Avenue a nod to the future of design.
