Join Brickworks for the very first edition of Quick Works, a high-energy evening where top architects, landscape architects, developers, and not-for-profits share their insights - quick, sharp, and to the point. Each speaker gets the mic for a short, snappy presentation - no rambling, just great ideas!
This time, we’re diving into four themes: People, Place, Personal, and Professional. Expect bold ideas, fresh perspectives, and plenty of inspiration.

Michael is a founding director of Architecture architecture. He has taught extensively both in Melbourne and abroad and was the founding Program Manager at the ANCB Metropolitan Laboratory in Berlin. He is chair of the University of Melbourne’s Architecture Advisory Board, serves on the AIA Victoria Awards Committee and was a founding member of Nightingale Housing.
He has written for architectural journals, served on several juries for the Victorian architecture awards program, and is a regular guide for Open House Melbourne. Michael is a co-author of Among Buildings, reflecting on significant Melbourne architecture through photography and poetry. His latest book collaboration, Paul Couch, Field Studies, is due for publication in May 2025.

Nick is a passionate father, weekend gardener and sometimes iron man. When he’s not at the drawing board or cross-training for a race, he can be found reading to the flowers or lovingly watering his children.

Since establishing Milieu, Michael has been actively engaged in each project to ensure Milieu’s thoughtful, rigorous approach is upheld at every step. Beyond his work for Milieu, Michael is a passionate advocate for improved urban design, which he promotes through talks and panel discussions. He is also Deputy Chair and a member of the Board at the Centre for Contemporary Photography.

Daniel has demonstrated excellence in founding Hearing Architecture, an EmAGN podcast that looks to educate the public on the role and importance of the architectural profession. He has been fundamental in leading and curating events for the Australian Institute of Architects, EmAGN and New Architects Melbourne.
