Rivière
A paragon for residential living, its distinctive design hosts 122 apartments across 12 storeys, adorned with lush, subtropical interiors and opulent amenities.
Rivière was conceived following a design competition held by Aria Property Group, in which renowned architects Bates Smart triumphed for their architectural homage to Kangaroo Point’s iconic landscape. The project speaks to community, liveability and place, all while pioneering sustainable architecture.
Taking inspiration from the jagged geometric forms across the cliffs of Kangaroo Point, the building’s angular façade is adorned in a mixture of matte and gloss custom La Paloma bricks that twinkle gently in the sunlight. Its angular exteriors feature direct views across the Brisbane river, accented by walls of breezeblock for ventilation and visual dynamacy. In boldly playing with volume and space, the apartments exude character that sets the project apart from its surrounding architecture.
Sitting atop its 12-storey walls, the Residents’ Rooftop Club hosts Brisbane’s most exclusive views. Featuring an infinity pool that flows over its edges like a natural rock pool, its mosaic terrazzo tiles are another reference to the spontaneous stone patterns found in the nearby cliffs. The rooftop space epitomises the building’s pursuit in reinterpreting elements from nature, providing a subtropical retreat in an urban landscape for all residents.
The entry and ground floor enhance both staff and guest experiences, acting as a relaxed workplace while offering a spacious area for relaxation in its connection to the serene garden space; the Retreat. This series of communal spaces brings the outdoors in with whimsical gardens that rejuvenate all those who explore it.
Inside, corridors are naturally ventilated by thoughtfully placed GB Wedge Breeze Blocks in Porcelain that flow fresh air through the residences, aided by the statement perforated screen doors at the entry of every apartment. Luxurious finishes of terrazzo benchtops, timber balconies and European appliances emphasise a focus on high-quality materials to enhance the longevity of each home. Relaxed liveability makes each two, three or four bedroom unit a serene space with immediate access to first class facilities.
Partnering with Cleanaway, Rivière is the first Australian residential project to feature multi-composting facilities, crystallising the apartment block’s immense consideration for its environmental impact. Its 65kW solar panels span across the rooftop while two beehives on the ground floor produce around 80 kilograms of honey each year. The landscaping places emphasis on preserving native Australian flora, celebrated throughout the indoor and outdoor garden spaces. Additionally, the basement hosts electric vehicle charging points to encourage residents to holistically live greener lives.
Rivière is a deeply considered residential space that speaks to contextually-informed visual design without compromise on deeply liveable environments, with a distinct connection to the natural realm.
