With a heritage spanning over 100 years, Haigh’s Chocolates has cemented its reputation as an iconic Australian brand. This milestone project is not only a reflection upon their storied heritage, but a glimpse into the company’s future-forward ambitions, embodying their continued commitment to quality and innovation.
Employing over 400 staff at this facility alone, the project has enabled Haigh’s to double their production capacity. At such a mammoth scale there is risk of the project feeling impersonal, yet, the facility is grounded with a warmth and tactility afforded by BELL Architecture’s considered use of Austral Bricks Thin Tech Laneway Loft Facings and Corners throughout both the interior and exterior of the building.
The Austral Bricks Thin Tech Plus® system is a strong, durable Australian-designed thin brick veneer system. Each thin brick is mechanically secured by hooks to interlock thin brick to the panel, offering ease of installation, enduring strength, and minimal maintenance. As the only brick manufacturer producing a thin-veneer metal panel system suitable for both interior and exterior applications, Austral Bricks brings a level of innovation that aligns seamlessly with the project’s own ethos.

To support the extensive number of staff members, the building integrates generous dedicated meeting and recreational zones, accented by splashes of vivid reds, muted neutrals, and the warmth of the thoughtfully incorporated brick features. Expansive windows along the building’s exterior allow natural light to filter into the interior, brightening the workspace to create a light-filled inner-sanctuary.
