Brick can emerge as more than just a structural tool, becoming a device that can choreograph light, texture, and spatial rhythm to create deeply human, enduring homes. Across these three distinct homes, brick redefines interiors and makes way for modern innovation and a vast array of aesthetics.

01

Greenwich 29

The use of brick is used as a unifying, expressive element throughout Greenwich 29, where Austral Bricks San Selmo in Original Limewash is positioned in the interior, on the façade, and in the exterior spaces. Envisioned by Brolen Homes, the continuity of material quietly stitches together the structure, while offering a muted warmth and texture.

Greenwich 29 balances comfort, practicality and everyday indulgence. The spacious design hints at luxury, yet remains firmly grounded in family life, with each space designed to be lived in, shared and easily adapted as family needs evolve over years.

02

Balwyn North House

An ON Architects design, Balwyn North House is situated in the leafy streets of Melbourne, embodying themes of haven and retreat. Drawing inspiration on the textures and forms of the living environment that surrounds it, the design fosters a sense of calm and connection to nature. The home is framed by tall, scaping windows and features two thoughtfully positioned courtyards enclosed by the Austral Bricks La Paloma Castellana open brick structures. The courtyards are cast in seclusion while maintaining seamless connection to the surrounding landscape. Natural light and fresh air flow freely through the interiors, enhancing the home’s organic character. The considered use of the brick masterfully creates a unique callback to the façade to balance seclusion with an open, inviting presence.

The deliberate use of traditional brick in a contemporary space forges the connection between the original use of the structure, a worker’s cottage, while also playing on the distinction between the building's past life and the multipurpose of the new room.

03

High Street

High Street’s new extension is grounded in the use of Bowral 76 in St Pauls Cream, which runs seamlessly through both the flooring and the wall, forming a textural shell. The deliberate use of traditional brick in a contemporary space forges the connection between the original use of the structure, a worker’s cottage, while also playing on the distinction between the building's past life and the multipurpose of the new room. Designed by Lineburg Wang, the brickwork washes a warmth over the space, amplified by natural light and an open-air plan that allows the compact room to feel expansive, inviting and remarkably adaptable.
