Architectural Designs to Attract Wildlife to Your Garden This Spring

Welcoming ways to invite wildlife into your home this spring. Featuring designs that do it beautiful through subtle brick use.

Spring is the perfect time to reimagine your outdoor space with wildlife in mind, and it all begins with landscaping. The secret lies in blending built design into the existing landscape, creating a space that feels connected and a part of nature. Materiality can assist in more than just defining your garden, but help shape winding paths through native planting, inviting bees, birds and even native reptiles in.

Tying landscaping design together, a brick pathway can guide the eye through the garden while connecting wildlife friendly areas harmoniously. Incorporating a pond between paved brick areas not only adds a striking element to the garden, but provides a safe haven for frogs, dragonflies and other water loving wildlife. Even small shelters tucked beneath brick planters can become resting places for native wildlife.

Badgery Avenue

Badgery Avenue is a striking example of a home where nature meets architecture seamlessly. Designed by HA Design Architects, the home uses Bowral Bricks in Chillingham white to subtly bridge the divide between structure and landscape.

Surrounded by native flora and featuring a private courtyard enclosed by brick, the home acts as a sanctuary for wildlife despite being in a bustling suburb of Sydney. The design promotes a peaceful coexistence between inhabitants and the environment, offering both shelter and serenity in a beautifully integrated space.

Boulevard House

Situated by a nature reserve and a golf course is Boulevard House, and it has been designed by architect Albert Mo to take full advantage of its surroundings. The residence balances contemporary architecture with nature through use of natural materials and opens spaces.

Its dark-toned GB Veneer Sawn Face in Pewter forms the home's striking black pavilion, while having expansive windows that open directly onto the reserve, blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior of the home. To maintain privacy while allowing for connection to outside the home features a screen wall in GB Veneer Sawn Face in Porcelain, a smart subtle way to respect design but allowing nature to still be incorporated.

Eyrie House

Perched on a mountain face in Tasmania, a bold architectural achievement that has brought landscape into the architectural design itself at Eyrie House. Architect Matt Williams used GB Masonry Porcelain smooth, blending the structure effortlessly into the native terrain so as to not disturb the wildlife surrounding it.

Its secluded position and seamless integration make it a calming space for local wildlife. More than just being surrounded by nature, this home is a part of it.
