Bristile Roofing La Escandella Planum Slate

Nestled in the heart of Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Rachel and Shaun Warner embarked on a transformation of their beloved Newport family home through a complete re-roofing of the existing structure. Today, Newport House stands as a testament to the beauty of terracotta tiles within a coastal setting, showcasing the enduring aesthetic and functional appeal of alternatives to traditional metal roofing.

Inspired by the timeless elegance of classic British Colonial style, Newport House evokes a sense of relaxed sophistication and charm. This thoughtfully curated space blends dark rattan, rich timber, and natural bamboo furnishings with crisp white linens to create a harmonious contrast. With an abundance of lush indoor and outdoor greenery, the space feels both light and airy.

“Offering a sophisticated alternative to traditional metal roofing, the Planum tile instead delivers simplicity and elegance.”

Staying true to their style, whilst also blending seamlessly into the natural surroundings of bushland and the shores of Pittwater, the homeowners chose to re-roof with the Bristile Roofing La Escandella Planum Slate terracotta tile. Offering a sophisticated alternative to traditional metal roofing, the Planum tile instead delivers simplicity and elegance with contemporary colour options developed to complement the sleek, refined shape of the tile. Bristile Roofing offer a range of industry leading warranties for added peace of mind, serving as the perfect choice for a home located on the Salt Pan Cove. With comprehensive 50 and 100 year product warranties, the tiles are guaranteed to remain structurally sound for the specified duration. Back by a lifetime colour warranty, the tiles will also never change or fade.

Throughout the process, the homeowners discovered the exceptional advantages of Bristile Roofing’s terracotta tile range. Renowned for their rust-proof qualities, these tiles are particularly well-suited for coastal areas, remaining impervious to corrosion. In addition to their durability, roof tiles significantly reduce noise by up to 30 decibels, over twice the noise reduction offered by other common roofing materials. Their fire-resistant nature makes them ideal for bushfire-prone regions, as they are non-combustible.

Moreover, terracotta tiles boast the lowest embodied energy among the three most widely used roofing materials in Australia, making them an environmentally responsible choice. The water run-off from tiled roofs is equally safe as that from other materials, ensuring there is no compromise in water quality. Additionally, their heat-reflective properties outperform other materials, helping to keep homes cooler by reflecting more heat away. Testing has further demonstrated that these tiles are temperature-efficient, transferring less heat and reducing cooling costs, making them a smart investment for both comfort and sustainability.
