Major building works at this Brisbane school prompted a re-examination of the associated existing pavements that were performing well but suffering from design issues on the undulating site.

The solution – generating big sweeps connecting all the levels using three colours of large format Riviera Freedom® pavers laid in a lively blend of bands, checks and panels. Pavers are also used to form child-friendly casual seating.

In addition to looking stunning, a real bonus was the level of stain resistance. These 300mm square, fired clay pavers are factory treated with Paveshield™, a permanent stain resistant coating. Austral Bricks worked with the school and gave them a cleaning solution that removed even stubborn stains like tree tannins and bark mulch, with no penetration by the stain whatsoever. Preparatory work to extend the paving even further has already begun.
